The Fanwood Memorial Library is a member of the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium (LMxAC), and our catalog includes materials from all LMxAC libraries. Fanwood cardholders can check out materials from all LMxAC libraries with their Fanwood library card.
Most catalog items can be placed on hold and picked up at and returned to the Fanwood Library. Items that can’t be placed on hold through the catalog can be checked out in person.
New Adult Fiction and Nonfiction: 14-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to three new books at one time.
Adult books that are no longer new: 28-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to 25 adult books at one time.
YA books: 28-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to 25 YA books at one time.
Children’s books: 28-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to 40 children’s books at one time.
Magazines: 14-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to four new books at one time.
DVDs: 14-day checkout and patrons may borrow up to four adult, four children’s and four family DVDs at one time.
Museum Passes: 3-day checkout and only one Museum Pass may be borrowed at a time. The same Museum Pass cannot be checkout out again by the same household for 30 days after return.
Mobile Hotspots, e-readers and the telescope: 14-day checkout. These items cannot be checkout out again by the same household for 30 days after return.
Most items can be placed on hold. The following items cannot be placed on hold:
- Museum Passes
- Magazines
- Mobile hotspots, e-readers, telescope
- Most libraries do not permit cardholders from other towns to place holds on new books and high-demand items. (New items can be checked out in person at any LMxAC library.)
Most items automatically renew one time as long as the item is not on hold for another patron.
The following items cannot be renewed:
- DVDs
- Museum Passes
- Magazines
- Mobile hotspots, e-readers, telescope
The Fanwood Memorial Library does not charge overdue fines for books, magazines or DVDs. We do charge a fee if these items are damaged or lost.
Overdue fines are applied to Museum Passes, mobile hotspots, e-readers and the telescope. These items also carry fees for loss and damage.
Fee policies vary among the LMxAC libraries and some libraries charge overdue fines. Fanwood cardholders must follow the policy of the library that owns the borrowed item.
