FOOTSTEPS THROUGH TIME: A WALKING TOUR OF FANWOOD
Check back to see if another tour has been scheduled, or take your own walking tour anytime.
Who lived in some of the historic homes we pass by every day? What is the story behind the building at the corner of North Ave. and Martine? What happened to the famous Fanwood Oak? Where was the ”haven for city dwellers,” complete with tennis and croquet courts and other amenities for 40 guests?
The Friends of the Fanwood Library present local historian Joan Skubish who will conduct a walking tour of some of the more interesting historic sites in Fanwood. Joan is currently Chair of the Fanwood Historical Preservation Commission and a long-time advocate for preserving Fanwood’s history.
At the conclusion of the tour, participants can visit the Fanwood Museum at the train station and refreshments will be provided. Joan will continue to answer questions and share some of the more popular and interesting resources.
The tour starts at the train station and covers parts of North and Martine Avenues.
